Partners

Illinois Water Resources Center
Created in 1964, the Illinois Water Resources Center receives annual funding from the U.S. Geological Survey and the State of Illinois as part of a nationwide network of university-based water centers. The center is dedicated to research and outreach programs on water resources issues critical to Illinois and the Midwest . It is directed by Dick Warner.

Illinois State Water Survey
The Illinois State Water Survey, a division of the Office of Scientific Research and Analysis of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and an affiliated agency of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is one of the primary agencies in Illinois concerned with water and atmospheric resources. The chief of the Water Survey is Derek Winstanley.

Illinois State Geological Survey
Created in 1905, the ISGS provides scientific information to government, business, and the public. Their research and service programs encompass geologic mapping, water and mineral resources, environmental and engineering geology, geochemistry, and education. The chief of the Geological Survey is William Shilts.

Illinois Natural History Survey
Since 1858, the Illinois Natural History Survey has been the guardian and recorder of the biological resources of Illinois ---the state's biological memory. It is recognized as the premier natural history survey in the nation. Its mission is to investigate the diversity, life histories, and ecology of the plants and animals of the state; to publish research results so that those resources can be managed wisely; and to provide information to the public in order to foster an understanding and appreciation of our natural heritage. The Natural History Survey is headed by its chief, David Thomas.

Illinois Water Science Center - U.S. Geological Survey
As the Nation's largest water, earth, and biological science and civilian mapping agency, the U.S. Geological Survey collects, monitors, analyzes, and provides scientific understanding about natural resource conditions, issues, and problems. This office is directed by Bob Holmes.

UIUC Environmental Council
The Environmental Council's mission is to build the universities capacity for leadership in environmental discovery, learning, and public engagement. The Environmental Council is headed by Bill Sullivan.
